The Bemm River footpath development project has been completed, with an official opening set for this Friday, April 4, at 11.30am.
The official opening will be held at Luderick Memorial Park, Bemm River and will include speeches, a ribbon cutting and a community barbecue.
The $1,094,108 project provides 1.7km of concrete footpaths and wooden boardwalks to allow people of all ages and abilities to actively move around Bemm River in a safe and comfortable manner.
Located in and around the main tourism centre, the safe and accessible walking and cycling route also includes pedestrian and cycle access to the boat ramp and jetty facilities.
The development and implementation of safe pedestrian access in Bemm River was identified as a priority during the recovery process following the Black Summer Bushfires and in the Bemm River Community Plan.
This project was funded by the Australian Government through the Black Summer Bushfires Recovery Grants Program along with funding from East Gippsland Shire Council.
