Orbost Regional Health (ORH) recently celebrated National Playgroup Week with teddy bear picnics in both Marlo and Orbost where beloved stuffed animals joined the fun.
The families enjoyed a lively singing and dancing session hosted by Neighbourhood House’s Registered Music Therapist Sally Nuyens.
Playgroup provides busy families with much-needed reprieve to tune back into the small, important moments that nurture wellbeing, development, contentment and joy.
Jacque Archer, a Wellbeing Team Leader and Early Years clinician at Orbost Regional Health, has supported families in the Orbost region for more than 13 years.
“Play and exploration allow children to connect to the world around them and encounter new ideas, develop skills and form strong bonds,” Jacque said.
Playgroup facilitators also support parents and care givers to connect with their child’s perspective, fostering understanding and shared experiences that build meaningful relationships.
Playgroup truly is a powerful tool for growth, connection, and learning for both children and adults alike.
Orbost Regional Health facilitates playgroups during school terms between 10am and midday at Orbost Kinder every Tuesday, and at Marlo Primary School every Wednesday.
