Orbost Snowy Rovers dominated the netball courts in its East Gippsland Football Netball League round one action against Paynesville at Lochiel Park, winning six of the seven matches.
In “A” grade the Blues, the 2024 premiers, commenced where they finished last
season, putting on a polished display to
outclass a gallant Paynesville outfit by 43 goals, 66-23.
The “B” grade was competitive at times, but it was the Blues who had the answers at the crucial times, peaking late in their 40-17 victory.
One of the better games of the day was the “C” grade match up, Orbost holding off a determined Gulls to win by seven goals.
The Blues were again too good in “D” grade, winning by 14 goals, whilst the under 17s put on the performance of the day, winning by 70 goals, 74-4.
The best tussle of the day was in the under 15s with the sides trading goals for most of the clash, with a well drilled Paynesville team, getting over the line by a solitary goal in a match both sides deserved to win, and which a draw may have been a fitting result.
In a competitive under 13 match, Orbost got home 13-10, much too the excitement of the youngsters.
There are no games this week due to the Easter weekend, with matches resuming on April 26, with Orbost taking on Wy Yung at Bullumwaal Road.
