Orbost Snowy Rovers’ under 13 team remain unbeaten after two rounds of the East Gippsland Junior Football competition, defeating Lindenow by 19 points last Sunday at Lochiel Reserve.
The determined young Blues led at every change, converting a five-point halftime led with an impressive five goals to three in the second half.
The win only tarnished by some inaccurate goal kicking, which the coaching panel will be keen to rectify this week.
Orbost had 15 shots at goals to the Cats’ six, as the Blues’ back six held strong through four quarters of tough contested football.
Chad Rogers was the leading goal kicker for the Blues, with the best players being Jasper Anderson, Jemma Martin, Samson Clementine, Beau Russell and Hugh Scott.
The Blues were slow starters in the under 15 game, with the Cats piling on seven goals to one in the first half.
Orbost battled hard against quality opposition in the second half, the Cats again steering through seven goals, but the Blues managed
four of their own, with a couple misses they would probably like to have another attempt.
The Cats got home by 50 points in the under 15s, but Orbost was certainly not disgraced, with a win not
far away.
Hunter Greaves was the leading goal kicker with two majors, with the better players being skipper Jarrah Morrison, Daniel Martin, Hunter Findley, Harley Evelyn and vice captain, Lachlan Robinson.
The Blues will hit the road this week for a local derby against Lakes Entrance at the Lakeside Oval.
