ANZAC Day 2025 at Jarrahmond proved to be a wonderful opportunity for the family of William ‘Bill’ Archibald Lynn – RAAF to gather and commemorate his service during World War II.
Bill, a Spitfire pilot died on March 17, 1944 as a result of an aircraft training accident in Northumberland, England.
Nieces and nephews of Bill Lynn joined with community members of the Russell family to also honour John ‘Mac’ Russell, who died in 1942 and the Jarrahmond Landcare friends to honour the service of all Jarrahmond residents who served in WWI and WWII.
Those Lynn family members who were present at Jarrahmond for the ANZAC Day service were Prue, Keith and Lynn Richardson (children of Dorothy Lynn), Marylu Trewin (daughter of Lu Lynn) and Vicki, Neil, Bill and Jan Lynn (children of Clyde Lynn).
Keith Richardson read an excerpt from a letter written by his mother Dorothy Lynn who lived at “Fairleigh” Jarrahmond to her Aunt Mary Dunoon.
“Everyone seemed to have something good to say about our Bill. He was a grand brother and I’ll never forget that he was always smiling and liked everyone else to be the same. It’s hard not to be bitter but I hope that time will help.”
