On Saturday, May 17, local uniform police were conducting high visibility road policing enforcement patrols on the Princes Highway in the Cann River area as part of Operation Compass when they detected an oncoming vehicle travelling at 149 kilometres in a 100 kilometre zone.
Police intercepted the vehicle and spoke to the driver, a 29-year-old man from New South Wales.
As a result of the detected speed the driver’s vehicle was impounded at a cost of $2000 and he will be charged on summons to appear at court on a later date in relation to driving at a speed dangerous and exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 kilometres.
