Orbost Arts Centre recently opened a new exhibition by former school teacher, Peter May, titled Times Have Changed.
Peter has released two books filled with paintings and stories of Far East Gippsland buildings.
His first book is Dairies of the Orbost District.
Peter says each dairy has its own history, “Each story a tale of which I have only been able to scratch the surface”.
His other book is Times Have Changed – Farm Buildings in Far East Gippsland.
Peter says this book “While not an historical reference work this book may be viewed as a colourful insight into lives and living days gone by”.
Peter’s exhibition will run at the Orbost Arts Centre until May 31, he also has more than 60 paintings in the exhibition and each is painted with his own recognisable technique using a palette knife with minimal brush.
There is also framed prints and cards of the paintings available to purchase at the exhibition centre.
Peter is a retired primary school teacher who spent his entire career teaching in small schools in far east Gippsland.
