The Wilderness Coast Artists are excited with the move into the Snowy Wilderness Discovery Centre in Orbost, after many decades in the Marlo boatshed by the Snowy River they are thrilled to have their own premises which can be accessed daily.
Unfortunately access to these premises was too late for the return of the highly acclaimed Melbourne artist Ben Winspear.
Ben was pleased to return to the Marlo boatshed for a three-day workshop after his inaugural visit at a similar time last year.
The topic for this workshop was ‘elements of the Australian landscape.’
A lot of discussion took place about what makes a good landscape and many elements were discussed, such as tone, form, colour, edges and a clear idea, what it is you like about what you paint and that’s when Cynthia Boyle, a highly qualified teacher in art education was asked to recap on a lot of important factors after her earlier drawing workshop in February ‘make your mark.’
Lemon Hill Gallery in Wairewa was the venue for member Kate Chapman’s recent exhibition of watercolour paintings Home Is Where The Heart Is.
Regular art days are now every Tuesday, but members can come in and paint any time.
Many other art days with a difference are envisioned.
An open day is to be announced shortly where members of the public are welcome to attend.
Creativity can be a lonely occupation as many artists prefer to work alone – art groups provide stimulus for artists to come together, discuss ideas and enjoy the camaraderie and friendship of likeminded people.
Beginners and people at all stages of their artistic journey are welcome to join the Wilderness Coast Artists.
