Three members of the Buchan Rifle Club, including Orbost’s Shannon and Mark Hederman recently competed in NRL 22 Championship in Chewelah, Washington, United States.
The Hedermans were joined on the trip of a lifetime by Buchan club president, Matt Cunningham.
At the event at the Westend Gun Club, Cunningham finished seventh, Mark 17th and Shannon 20th.
All three describing the opportunity and experience as amazing.
“It was an amazing two weeks, the championship match was certainly one to be remembered, the host Matthew Alwine property was stunning and nothing like anything we’ve shot before,” Shannon said.
It was tough going with switching winds, wide pans, hidden targets, dust and varying angles which made the going tough.
“I enjoyed every minute, trying to workout the best techniques to tackle each stage,” Shannon said.
After Washington they headed off to Canada, to the Joe Rich Sportsman association in Canada for the Aussie verses Canada friendly hosted by Lisa Hertay and Jeremy Martin.
Another outstanding experience and chance to meet like minded people, who will be friends for life.
