The Forge is going off script

Andrew Morrish and Rosalind Crisp will hit the Forge Theatre stage on Friday, July 18 for the Tiny Festival of Practice. (PS)

On Friday, July 18, something completely unpredictable, wildly creative, and

unrepeatable is coming to The Forge Theatre and Arts Hub.

Introducing Tiny Festival of Practice – the brainchild of world-renowned dance artist, Rosalind Crisp and master improviser Andrew Morrish. They’ve invited a hand-selected cast of improvisers, dancers, movers, and mischief-makers from across Australia and Europe to create a performance where no one – not even the performers – knows what will happen. And that’s exactly why you need to be there.

What’s planned? Nothing.

What’s possible? Anything.

Tiny Festival of Practice is a celebration of live performance in its rawest, most electric form – where dance, movement, theatre, sound, and surprise collide. It’s brought to life by internationally acclaimed creatives who just happen to live up the road in Orbost.

This one-night-only event is part of The Forge’s inaugural Artist in Residence program and a key initiative of our Culture and Creativity Strategy, which champions East Gippsland’s own creative talent – supporting them to take risks, ask big questions, and make bold work right where they live.

Rosalind Crisp, honoured by the French Government and acclaimed across continents, and Andrew Morrish, a pioneer of improvised performance in Berlin, Barcelona, Sydney and beyond, are bringing it all home – and throwing down a challenge to the local creative community: come witness what happens when we let go of the script.

Here’s the thing, East Gippsland, no one else will experience this. Not even Melbourne.

This is the kind of performance people usually fly to see except this time, it’s happening here at The Forge – for free – and you’re invited.

Bring your wonder, bring a friend.

And don’t miss this one-night-only celebration of creative freedom.

Event details:

Date: Friday, July 18.

Time: 6pm – 7.40pm (doors from 5.30pm)

Venue: The Forge Theatre, 80 McKean St, Bairnsdale

Tickets: Free (advance booking recommended via Humanitix) events.humanitix.com
