Nowa Nowa hosted an afternoon of folk tunes at the community hall with the highly acclaimed duo Mickey and Michelle last weekend with an opening performance by talented Gippsland musicians, Strat and Lyndal.
Strat and Lyndal kicked off a session outside with local musos jumping in, before heading inside for a 45-minute set that settled everyone gently into the hall. Mickey and Michelle followed and had everyone absorbed in their music and anecdotes of hiking.
This gig followed some fiddle and harp workshops held the day before in Nowa Nowa. Three of the workshop participants then jumped in for a final song with Mickey and Michelle in front of the crowd.
This was a rendition of A Song for All Seasons by Oliver Schroer, a song written in his last days dying of leukemia. It capped off a beautiful afternoon as part of the East Gippsland Winter Festival.
Those attending thanked the Nowa Nowa Community Development Group for organising such a successful event.
