Orbost "B" grade defender Kayla Shanahan was named among the best for her efforts against Paynesville last Saturday at AJ Freeman Reserve. The Blues proved too strong for the Gulls, running out 12-goal winners.

There was plenty of success for Orbost Snowy Rovers during its round 10 East Gippsland netball clash with Paynesville at AJ Freeman Reserve in Paynesville, winning six of the seven matches.

The “A” grade clash was a one-act affair with the Blues blowing away the Gulls in the first quarter on the way to an incredible 80-20 victory.

Hayley Boxall and Jewel Catlin were in sensational form for the Blues, leading the way in an exceptional team performance.

The reigning premiers currently sit fifth on the table, eight points ajar of fourth-placed Boisdale Briagolong, with considerable work to be done to make the finals.

The “B” grade contest was much more even and competitive, the Blues proving too strong up the stretch on the way to a 39-27 win.

Makayla Edlington, Tully Humphreys and Kayla Shanahan led the way for Orbost.

Defensive players were kept busy in the “C” grade clash which saw the Blues hold off a determined Paynesville 26-15.

Jess Chambers, Laura Poole and Megan Humphreys were all great four quarter performers for the Blues.

It was a dominant performance from the Blues in “D” grade, nailing a 44-12 win off the back of some great ball movement, which the coaching staff has been striving for all season.

Junior players Jasmine Westaway and Caitlin Schafer were in great touch for Orbost, who will be hopeful the momentum can continue on in the coming weeks.

Orbost kept its finals hopes alive in the under 17s, smashing Paynesville 49-4.

Westaway, Remmi MacDonell and Holly Hanratty were all in outstanding form in what could be a season-defining success.

The Blues sit in fifth place, two points behind fourth-placed Lucknow.

Orbost is in fourth place in the under 15 competition, despite going down to the Gulls 42-26.

The Blues mounted several challenges, but Paynesville had all the answers, with Kira Burn named best player for the Blues.

In the under 13 match, the teams were well matched which made for a great contest, the Blues shooters getting them home 22-16.

Among the best for the Blues were Hayley Russell, Charli Voss and London Austin.

It is a tough round of matches ahead this week for Orbost Snowy Rovers when they welcome Stratford to Lochiel Park.
