When drum and bass DJ Abraysiv — also known as Jordy Bray — performs at the Snowy Steampunk Soirée on July 18, it won’t be on a stage.
Instead, he’ll play beneath the Snowy Rail Bridge, as fire drums blaze and guests sip hot toddies made with local produce.
Originally from South Australia, Bray recently moved to Marlo with his partner Hannah Kress, a local vet in Orbost, and their Jack Russell Harvey.
Now he’s bringing his passion for deep basslines and breakbeats to a different crowd — and with a very different backdrop.
“Strictly drum and bass,” Jordy said.
“I play what I enjoy — UK garage and house — but mainly drum and bass.”
As Abraysiv, Bray delivers high-energy sets built for dancing and immersion.
The Snowy Steampunk Soirée, part of the East Gippsland Winter Festival, will transform the historic bridge into a firelit open-air gathering filled with music, performance, food and costume.
Jordy is also starting a new career in real estate in the Orbost region.
“I wasn’t planning to move to Marlo, but
now I get to live near the river and the bush and share music in a place that already feels like home,” he said.
Jordy will join Orbost local Christina Hayes playing at the Soiree. Christina has had a professional career playing cello with European orchestras
and now plays and composes for her incredible electric cello.
Tickets are selling fast with the event on Friday, July 18 from 4-7pm at the Snowy Rail Bridge.
Tickets are available at the East Gippsland Winter Festival website.
