Orbost Snowy Rovers will chase its fourth consecutive win on Saturday, when they head to the Lindenow Recreation Reserve to take on the Cats in round 12 of the East Gippsland Football Netball League.
The Blues’ mid season resurgence lifted them back into finals calculations, something that looked totally unlikely when they were defeated by Lakes Entrance a month ago.
With six rounds remaining, Orbost trail third-ranked Boisdale Briagolong and fourth-rated Stratford by four points.
On current form Stratford look the most likely side that the Blues could replace, with a continued run of impressive form on the way home.
Orbost are scheduled to do battle with Lucknow (home), Boisdale Briagolong (away), Lakes Entrance (home), Wy Yung (away) and Paynesville at home after this week’s vital clash with Lindenow.
Stratford will do battle with Lakes Entrance (home), Paynesville (home), Lucknow (away), Wy Yung (away), Lindenow (home) and Boisdale Briagolong (away).
Orbost coach, Peter Seal will be hoping his side can maintain its current run until the season’s end and snatch a spot, but in reality it may sneak in with four wins, but probably five.
The Blues certainly won’t be able to be complaisant this week, the Cats are more than capable on their day of causing a major upset, though their recent form has
been disappointing.
Their coach, Brett Waddell has been setting his side for a big scalp all season, suddenly the Blues have become a much bigger scalp than they looked a month.
Orbost will be looking for the continued good form of forward duo, Tommy Smith and Hamish Nettleton who have impressed in the Blues improved output.
The Blues look to have the advantage and will be determined to return east with the
points, a loss will make a finals spot unlikely on form alone.
