The second session in the Building Orbost and District Together webinar series was held recently, drawing in more than 20 local participants for another dynamic
lunchtime discussion.
The event featured guest speakers Ruth Rogan (Mirboo North and District Community Foundation), John Walters (Cobargo Community Development Corporation), and Susan Freeman (Buchan Gelantipy and District Renewal Association), who generously shared their experiences from the frontlines of regional leadership
and renewal.
Speakers presented practical frameworks and real-world examples of how their communities have responded to change and challenge through strong governance, collaboration and local action.
Central to their stories was the power of trust-based partnerships and local ownership.
The session gave participants valuable insight into how different regions are building resilience by connecting community strengths with strategic planning and coordinated leadership.
Participants are learning so much from the models and experiences of other communities and the momentum is building.
It’s not too late to catch up: recordings of the first two webinars are available for those wanting to join the third and final session on Monday, July 28 over lunch.
The series leads into an in-person community workshop on Wednesday, August 21 in Orbost, where these learnings will lay the foundation for shaping a future-focused local leadership and governance model.
The initiative is a partnership between the Future of Orbost and District (FoOD) project and Australian Business Volunteers (ABV).
