In a first for Orbost and the Snowy Rail Bridge, last Friday’s Steam Punk Soiree was a resounding success.
As part of the East Gippsland Winter Festival, the soiree saw creative and funky costumes in an out-of-this-world venue.
Attendees said it was an excellent way to see the setting sun and witness the glow
of candles and fairy lights around the
historic bridge.
This was the first on-site fundraiser for the Save the Snowy Rail Bridge Group of volunteers who are getting quite a reputation for thinking outside the box.
All proceeds go to the campaign to have the entire bridge restored.
The fifth winter festival wrapped up
on Sunday, July 20, capping off the month-long program.
Deep in the Weeds was one of the final events this year, and for the first time was held at Sailor’s Grave Brewing’s Dunetown site near Marlo.
Held last Saturday night, the event was also a success, with locals and visitors flocking to the area to listen to music headlined by Blake Scott and enjoy a Sardinian food and fire experience from Trulli, desserts
by The Long Paddock and beers from
Sailor’s Grave.
