Consecutive losses in the East Gippsland Football Netball League (EGFNL) reserves competition has Orbost Snowy Rovers awkwardly placed with four
rounds remaining.
Lucknow was too good for the Blues at Lochiel Park last Saturday, winning easily in the round 13 clash by 62 points.
Seven days prior, Orbost found current fourth-placed side, Lindenow a task too big.
After a good start to the season, the Blues have struggled in the second phase of the season, as injury and unavailability has hit both the senior and reserve outfits.
Orbost currently sit in sixth place,
four points ajar of the Cats, but they do have a superior percentage, Lakes Entrance
sit in fifth place on the same points as
the Blues.
The final four matches is predominately littered with winnable clashes, including the Seagulls, Wy Yung and Paynesville, while the unbeaten Boisdale Briagalong probably is a task too big.
A nine goal to one first half set the Magpies up for the victory, the only positive for the Blues was that they did outscore Lucknow in the final term, kicking three goals to one, adding some late respectability to an
ordinary performance.
Among the better players for the Blues were Cody Robertson, coach Andrew Kenny, Hugh Barnes, Billy Joiner, Mitchell Fenner and
Kyle Derbyshire.
It was better story in the thirds, with the Blues running out huge 129-point winners, Orbost kicking eight goals in the first term, setting up the huge victory, with Kruze Farley (seven goals) and Angus Joiner (five) again combining for more than 10 goals between them.
Dean Tatti, Fletcher Kleinitz, Finn Donnellan, Jarrah Morrison and the highly skilled Bobby Bills all contributed two.
Best players for the home side were Thomas Joiner, Donnellan, Jarrah Morrison, Angus Joiner, Tatti, and Rusty Morrison.
Orbost Snowy Rovers currently sit third on the ladder, capable of knocking off Lakes Entrance and Lindenow, who will finish in the double chance spots, if everything goes right, in their quest for back-to-back EGFNL
thirds premierships.
The Blues will head to Boisdale this week to do battle with the Bombers at the
Cabbage Patch.
