The third and final finalist in the Worksafe Victoria Country Club Hub, “Football’s Favourite Farmer Award” for 2025 is popular Orbost Snowy Rovers Football Netball Club president, Royston Nettleton.
The man, affectionately known as “Doc” was nominated by Sharon Kurrle
for his 100 per cent commitment to his farm and the
football club.
In 2024, Nettleton was named Orbost Citizen of
the Year for his commitment to his local footy club, community and tireless efforts as an advocate for farmer mental health.
A long standing dairy farmer and 500-game legend of Orbost, Nettleton has redefined what it means to be community-minded.
Later this month the overall winner of the WorkSafe Victoria 2025 Footy’s Favourite Farmer will be decided, with “Doc” in the running against Luke and Michelle Buchanan, from the Colac Tigers Football Netball League and Shaun and Nit Carson from the Western Eagles Football Netball Club.
They present formidable opposition but the early public support is for “Doc”.
