After what was shaping up to be a wet weekend, the sun shone for Maffra and District Car Club’s (MADCC) Boisdale Hillclimb meet last Sunday.
The club staged round six of its season series, a short-track meeting attracting more than 80 drivers from across Gippsland who raced against the clock on the gravel track.
Buggy drivers Matt Muir and Matt Healy dominated, setting quick times for all to follow right from the first “run”.
As the track dried throughout the event, everyone’s times improved, with Muir recording a time of 42.92 seconds to win the meeting outright.
All junior competitors drove well and after nine “runs” it was Cooper Miller who was the quickest with 47.72 seconds.
Mason Beattie, Cooper Scott and Emma MacKrell also performed well.
The ladies’ class was eventually won by Lauren Caffrey with a time of 47.97 seconds over Britney Jones and Molly Grist with 48.77 and 49.90 respectively.
The next Boisdale Hillclimb meeting will be round seven – the second last meeting for the season – to be held on Saturday, October 4, a long-track and twilight event.
MADCC will also host a trivia night on Saturday, August 30 at the Maffra Memorial Hall.
Tables of eight are available and can be booked through the club’s Facebook page prior to the night.
