Treatment of timbers against termite damage now and in the future is underway at the Snowy Rail Bridge at Orbost.
With the help of a grant from the Gippsland Community Foundation, this work is being done by Scott Grambau from My Pest Doctor at Bairnsdale.
Every single pile will be treated with the aim of stopping any existing termite activity and also as a preventative against future damage.
This is a big job, and absolutely essential.
The Save the Snowy Rail Bridge Committee is very thankful to the Gippsland Community Foundation for helping make this work possible.
Scott’s present work concentrates on the middle section of the bridge.
This work will help preserve the historic timbers in this unrestored mid-section until this part of the old bridge is able to be repaired and fully integrated into the already repaired sections at both ends.
