After two weekends of superb spring golf, Matt Shanahan is the Orbost Golf Club Champion for the 11th time.
The club’s committed team on course maintenance duties had the greens, bunkers, fairways and rough in top condition for the 54-hole event.
Matt Shanahan took out the “A” grade title from Blake Robinson and Luke Endley.
In “B” grade, Peter Nicolson held on for victory from Craig Brown and Art Giuliano, while up and coming junior Mitch Farley played consistently to win the “C” grade championship from Reg Armstrong and Laurie Cochrane.
Robinson was again the clear winner of the junior championship as he continues to move toward his goal of a PGA apprenticeship next year.
New member Anthony Walker showed impressive form to win both the Bernie Shanahan Memorial and veterans divisions on handicap.
This year’s ladies championship will be held in October, while the Weekend of Golf is not to be missed on November 1-2 this year.
The Orbost Golf Club will hold its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, September 20 at 9.30am, with all welcome.
