Harvest is just around the corner, and now is the time to get key equipment ready.
Balers, mowers, rakes and fodder wagons will soon be running long hours, so a pre-season service pays off.
Start with engines – fresh oil, clean filters and coolant checks reduce the chance of costly breakdowns, inspect cutter bars, augers and sieves, replacing worn parts before they fail in the paddock.
Baler knotters and chains should be checked and lubricated, while feed out wagons need wheel bearings and tyres inspected for safe hauling.
Fire safety is critical – extinguishers should be in cabs, and machines cleaned daily to reduce risk. Harvest windows can be tight, and downtime expensive.
