Mallacoota residents requiring respite care can now access high-quality support close to home with the opening of
the new purpose-built Mallacoota Respite Care Centre,
delivered by Mallacoota
District Health and Support Service (MDHSS).
The facility has been designed to help residents returning from hospital after surgery or undergoing treatment recover in a safe, home-like environment, reducing the risk of falls and enabling them to stay connected to their community throughout
their recovery.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester attended the
official opening of the new
centre and commended MDHSS on its commitment to improving local healthcare.
“It was fantastic to be in Mallacoota for the opening of this purpose-built respite facility,” Mr Chester said.
“This project, led by CEO Anne Mwagiru and her dedicated team, will allow residents to recover close to home, surrounded by familiar faces and supported by the community they love.”
Mr Chester said the new facility would have lasting benefits for Mallacoota families.
“This centre will make a real difference for local residents for many years to come,” he said.
“It’s an important addition to the region’s health services and reflects the community-driven approach that Mallacoota is known for.”
