Orbost currently sit in third spot the Bairnsdale Cricket Association “A” grade ladder, but are being starved of opportunities to get out on the park in recent times.
After going down to Wy Yung in round five, their round six match against Meerlieu was abandoned due to poor weather.
They enjoyed a bye in round seven, before being a bit ring rusty against ladder leader, Lindenow South Glenaladale in round eight.
Last Saturday’s round of matches was again called off due to rain and inclement weather, and now they will sit out the next two weeks with a bye, as the two day matches for season 2025/26 begin.
It’s hardly the ideal preparation for a team that was victorious in the opening four rounds, and would like to regain winning form after two recent losses and the Christmas break looming.
In “B” grade, the Blues will chase its first win of the season, when it welcomes Metung Swan Reach to Orbost Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
