The Orbost under 13s were the only team to take to the field over the weekend, beating the rain to take on Lakes Entrance White on Friday night at St Brendans Primary School in Lakes Entrance.
In a close and competitive match played in great spirit between two arch rivals in local sport, it was the Seagulls who were victorious on this occasion.
Lakes Entrance White batted first and made an impressive 6/78 from its 20 over allocation, setting the Blues a massive challenge if they were to claim victory.
In reply, the Blues threatened several times to take control of the match but it wasn’t to be, finishing on 6/66 at stumps, failing by just 12 runs in an outstanding game of junior cricket.
This Friday night Orbost will host Meerlieu at Orbost Community College from 5pm.
The Bruthen/Orbost under 16 side, who are still chasing their first win for the campaign, will make the trek to Paynesville on Saturday morning to take on the Gulls at AJ Freeman Reserve.
