During the past year 75 new staff members joined Orbost Regional Health (ORH).
ORH was excited to welcome back
Hailey Griebenow after her graduate year in Melbourne.
Hailey provides essential nursing care in the dialysis and urgent care centres.
Kylie Foltin, the director of clinical and aged care service said “Hailey is an exceptional nurse who shows dedication to her profession and compassion to our community members.”
Eighteen new team members joined the community aged care services, which has helped ORH to meet growing demand.
Jakob Grist has provided property maintenance assistance since March 2025 and he said “It is a great team. Everyone has been so friendly.”
Sophie Knight started a traineeship in January to become a qualified dental assistant.
This is Sophie’s first time working in a big organisation with high expectations.
ORH dentist Edwina Cen said “I’ve really enjoyed working with Sophie and I’ve appreciated her support while Stef Broome enjoys maternity leave with her gorgeous daughter Paige”.
In October Cristie Buchanan joined ORH as its first Koori Wellbeing Worker, and it took more than a year to fill this new position.
Wellbeing team leader Lea Thomas said “Cristie is so calm, respectful and generous in helping others in our organisation to connect with her deep cultural knowledge and wisdom”.
Last week John Rochstad-Lim joined ORH who is the new director of finance and corporate services.
Most rural health services struggle to find financial experts with the right qualifications and experience, so ORH was very lucky to find John.
Although it is exciting whenever new employees join the organisation, keeping its staff feeling positive and motivated is also very important.
ORH’s acting human resources manager Leah Edlington said “This year more than half of all ORH employees participated in our annual staff survey”.
Compared to the previous year, ORH staff are now much happier with the training opportunities they offer, and the fairness of the recruitment processes.
“Our health service was compared to 30 others across Victoria, and ORH’s staff survey results were consistently better than average,” Ms Edlington said.
More job opportunities will be advertised as ORH prepares to open a larger residential aged care facility in 2026.
