There was disappointment for Orbost in Bairnsdale Cricket Association (BCA) “B” grade cricket on Saturday, with their shot at an initial win for the season cruelled by weather.
The Blues were well placed in their round eight fixture, when the rain arrived and ruined a positive outcome.
Orbost hosted fourth-rated side, Metung Swan Reach at the Orbost Recreation Reserve, and bowled the visitors out in 28 overs for 135.
Fletcher Morgan was the star taking 3/8, while Curtley Farley (2/53) and Nicholas Davis (2/4) also took multiple wickets.
The Blues were 1/53 after eight overs when the heavens opened, Campbell Macalister the batsman dismissed for 19, while Oscar Millward was looking good on 26 not out.
Orbost will host Lindenow South Glenaladale this week.
Orbost remain unbeaten after two
matches in the BCA 20/20 competition, after accounting for Paynesville and Lucknow last
week at home.
Paynesville made a competitive 7/163 (20 overs) after being sent in last Tuesday night, with Nathan Schoultz top scoring with 87.
Skipper Isaac Love (35) and promising youngster, Harper Clack (20 not out) the only other batters to reach double figures, with Jordan Ross taking two wickets for the Blues.
In reply, Orbost chased the score down with three overs remaining for the loss of five wickets, with Max Welsh (42) and Luke Humphries (41) leading the way.
On Thursday night, the Blues welcomed Lucknow, for their postponed round one fixture, The Magpies batted first and made 8/131 from their 20 overs, in reply, Orbost made the runs for the loss of five wickets, with 21 balls remaining.
Alex Hulme top scored with 32 not out, while Max Welsh (21) and Luke Humphries (19) also made significant contributions.
Orbost is currently enjoying a bye in “A” grade, with the competition half way through the first two-day fixture of the season.
There next match is on December 20-21, when they play Paynesville at home.
