Orbost’s “B” grade team made the long trek to Meerlieu last Saturday for Bairnsdale Cricket Association round 10, but unfortunately were no match for the Tussocks.
The Blues won the toss and elected to bat and after an opening partnership of 28 between Chris Davis (11) and Atinderdeep Singh (17), things feel away very quickly, all out for just 51 in 26 overs, losing 10-23.
Orbost captain Mark Carley finishing with 6/16 from his eight overs.
In reply, the Tussocls knocked
the runs off in just seven overs for the loss of two wickets.
Jack welsh and Lucas Shanahan took a wicket each.
At the Christmas break, the Blues sit 10th on the ladder, with just one win, their next match is on January 10 at the Bairnsdale City Oval against
West Bairnsdale.
Sadly the Bruthen/Orbost under
16s had to forfeit their final match before Christmas last Saturday
against Wy Yung.
The currently sit on the bottom of the ladder chasing their first win and they hope it will be when play resumes on January 31, when they host Meerlieu at the Bruthen Recreation Reserve.
The youngest Blues scored an impressive win last Friday night against Buchan at Orbost Community College.
Batting first Orbost made 4/92 from its 20 over allotment, and with some consistent bowling and excellent fielding they restricted the Cavemen to 6/80, winning a competitive contest by 12 runs.
The under 13s next match is on Friday, January 30 when they
welcome West Bairnsdale to Orbost Community College.
