Share your views on toilet facilities

by

in Local News

Residents and visitors are encouraged to share their feedback about public toilets managed by East Gippsland Shire Council.

Public toilets play a vital role in supporting everyday life, tourism and community events across the shire.

Council has launched the first round of community consultation as part of its Public Amenities Service Review.

The review includes public toilet facilities owned, managed and maintained by council; facilities managed by private operators or Committees of Management are not included in this feedback process.

This round of community consultation is open until February 9, 2026, with several ways to get involved:

– Your Say survey – visit council’s website to share detailed feedback online about your experiences.

– Interactive mapping tool – use the live map on Council’s website to provide feedback on specific locations in real time.

– QR codes at toilet sites – scan the site-specific code and provide feedback on that exact location in real time.

– In person or written feedback – surveys and feedback can be provided at any customer service centre or library, by email or by mail.

Feedback is being sought on cleanliness, infrastructure condition, accessibility, safety and location. The information gathered will guide future planning for public toilets including cleaning schedules and maintenance priorities.

Mayor Cr Jodie Ashworth said this first round of community consultation is part of the East Gippsland Public Amenities Service Review.

“During our budget engagement earlier this year, you told us which services matter most: accessible spaces, well-maintained facilities, public toilets in tourist areas, family-friendly spaces, and modern multi-use facilities. This service review is part of that work and budget commitment for this year,” she said.

Cr Ashworth said feedback will be collated and will help shape the East Gippsland Public Amenities Service Review.

“In 2026, we’ll share the review with the community and invite you to have your say again about the proposed future directions. Facilities owned or operated by private entities, other levels of government or

Committees of Management will be considered in broader service context as part of the overall review,” Cr Ashworth said.

“Public toilets are an important part of how people experience our towns, parks and visitor areas. We look forward to receiving the community feedback.”
