More than half of the directors serving on Orbost Regional Health’s Board of Management live locally and represent the real issues affecting the community.
In 2025 Orbost Regional Heath (ORH) warmly welcomed four new directors who have all contributed incredible aged care, finance, legal and medical skills.
Chad Burrell became the deputy chair of Bairnsdale Regional Health’s board of directors in 2024.
Chad is a chartered accountant with his own local accounting firm, and he volunteers his time to assist many community groups across East Gippsland.
ORH is delighted to have Chad’s expertise within its finance and risk board sub-committee.
As ORH prepares to open its new residential care facility, ORH is very fortunate that Megan Tyler joined its board of directors.
Megan is a registered nurse and director of aged care services at Central Gippsland Health Service.
She is uniquely positioned to strengthen aged care partnerships across the Gippsland Local Health Service Network.
Two new directors bring cultural and linguistic diversity to Orbost Regional Health’s board.
Doctor Birinder Giddey is the chief medical officer at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.
He developed an understanding of the issues faced by the community while he was employed as a temporary doctor at Bairnsdale Regional Health Service.
Birinder’s involvement in the healthcare quality and safety committee reflects ORH’s commitment to delivering the best possible care to our community.
After two years without a board director with legal expertise, ORH was delighted to welcome Malar Thiagarajan to its board of management.
Malar is a lawyer with a deep understanding of health service delivery and operations.
She held senior roles in the Victorian Department of Health leading residential aged care construction, and Mala also has extensive experience across the disability, mental health, higher education and medical research sectors.
Orbost Regional Health looks forward to introducing the local community to its new board members at the open access meeting scheduled in June 2026.
