Fun, Friendship and Fellowship are the core values of Orbost Probus Club with a great start to the year with a picnic at Forest Park.
It was well attended, complimented with good weather and a shared lunch.
Probus guest speaker for their monthly meeting was Rosemary Redden.
Rosemary recently completed a pilgrimage walk called “Camino de Santiago” (the Way of St. James) in Spain.
The pilgrimage walk dates back to the ninth century A.D which includes a visit to the cathedral of St. James.
Rosemary chose to do the pilgrimage walk on her own, walking the coast which spanned approximately 400 kilometres, averaging 10-22kms per day depending on the terrain.
At the start and end of
each day you have to have your passport stamped to confirm you have completed that section.
Along with a few blisters and some difficult sections of
the walk, Rosemary was assisted with other walkers doing the pilgrimage.
Some of these walkers would leave little symbols along the way and in some villages there was quite
a collection.
Rosemary desires to do another pilgrimage but only half the distance.
Rosemary was thanked
by Probus for the inspiring talk and sharing this experience with the Orbost Probus Club members.
