After a hiatus of several years, the Snowy River Triples returned to the Orbost Bowling Club last Sunday.
The day saw a full green with all rinks in play and a total of 42 bowlers competing.
The bowlers came from Bairnsdale, Bruthen, Metung, Lindenow, Bairnsdale Golf, Sale, Stratford, Lakes Entrance, Howitt Park and Orbost Bowling Clubs.
The day, which was fully catered by members, consisted of four games of 10 ends with the winners as follows:
First place ($900) went to the Sale team of Ray Kennedy, Pam Carter and Gail McKenzie, who finished ahead of the Orbost’s president’s team ($600), Bruce Kneebone, Ross O’Brien and Greg Rankin.
In third place ($300) were Metung’s Glenn Barker, Maurie Carroll and Brett Shields.
The best last game ($90), went the way of Lakes Entrance’s Kevin Brown, Bill Rowley and Harley Johnson.
The Orbost Bowls Club would like to thank all those who participated in the event as players, caterers and general workers, with particular thanks going to the sponsors.

PENNANT RESULTS
Division two had a successful return to midweek pennant after the Christmas break defeating Lakes Entrance 3, 64-60 in what was a very exciting game.
Played in very warm sunny weather, Orbost did not get off to a very good start but with determination they slowly clawed back the overall lead to win the game.
Victory was claimed despite only winning one rink, Beryl Dyce, Ralph Harding, Kneebone and Maurie Frank outstanding winning 30-10.
The win boosted the side into third position on their ladder with three games to go before the finals.
In weekend pennant, division one had an unsuccessful return to competition losing in an away game to Howitt Park, 48-66.
Played in very windy weather, unfortunately Orbost went winless, but still remain in second place on the ladder and will need to win the majority of the remaining games to hold their spot in the top three.
They will host fourth placed Bairnsdale 2 in a vital match for both sides this week.
In contrast, division four had a very successful game, defeating Bairnsdale 8 at home, 49-23.
Winners were Lyn O’Brien, Jurgen Fichtner, Harding, Trevor Perry (18-13) and Jenny Gurney, Trevor Hawkey, Jan Lynn and Dyce (31-10).
They remain in second place on the ladder and look certain to play finals, their next match is an away fixture against Bruthen 2.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
The men’s and ladies championship pairs will be held on Thursday commencing with a roll up at 9.45am.
All details are on the outside noticeboard at the club and entries can be made by adding your name to the attached list.
CRACKERJACK COMING TO ORBOST
Twilight Crackerjack will commence on Wednesday, February 4 and will run for six weeks plus finals.
Only three people are required to make up a team, and you can use your own bowls, or the club can loan you a set.
Footwear should be flat soles or thongs.
SOCIAL BOWLS
Two visitors boosted player numbers last Thursday, with Belinda Street and Annette Towns joining in the bowling.
The weather was very overcast and threatening with thunder rolling in the distance.
The rain, however, held off long enough for one game of 10 ends to be played and completed.
On a countback, the winning team was declared as Frank (skip), Harding and Annette Thompson.
With the club’s championship men’s and ladies pairs commencing on Thursday, the next social bowls afternoon will be on Sunday.
