East Gippsland’s farming community has once again proven its legendary generosity, completing a major fodder run to assist families across Central and North East Victoria.
The successful mission saw 10 full loads of essential supplies delivered to primary producers in Yarck, Ruffy, Tarcombe,
Alexandra and Harcourt.
The donations provided a comprehensive lifeline for those on the land, including hay and silage for livestock, calf pellets for young stock, and a significant amount of dog and cat food to ensure farm pets were also cared for.
Organisers expressed a “massive thanks” to everyone involved in the effort, noting that the generosity of local donors has made a tangible difference to the families in the
recipient towns.
The logistical success of the run was bolstered by key local business partnerships.
AG Warehouse Orbost played a pivotal role, both by providing their own donations and serving as a central hub for holding items contributed by the public.
The heavy lifting was spearheaded by the team at WR Transport, who generously donated their services to deliver eight of the 10 loads across the state.
The backbone of the run was the long list of local families and individuals who opened their paddocks and sheds to contribute.
Key donors included the Beveridge family, Robert Leatham, Julien Davies, Roddy and Jo Kleinitz, Richard Croft, Brian and Mary McDonald, Tim Barnes and Blair Austin, Colin and Vicki McDonald, Mick and Cindy Robinson, Neil and Gaye Martin, Alister Steel, and the Edlington family.
As the latest run wraps up, the message from the organisers is clear: whether the donation was a single bag of pet food or multiple loads of silage, the collective spirit of the district has provided much-needed hope and practical support to fellow farmers doing it tough.
