Orbost scored its second win of the Bairnsdale Cricket Association season in “B” grade last Saturday, defeating Meerlieu in grand style at the Orbost Recreation Reserve.
It broke a four game losing streak for the Blues, who were last successful in round six against Lakes Entrance.
Batting first, for just the third time this season, the Blues utilised their entire 40 over allotment and finished on 9/207.
Oscar Millward opened the innings and got Orbost off to a great start, making 77 from 75 balls, including 13 boundaries and a six.
When he was dismissed at 3/108, the Blues momentum was maintained by Jordan Ross (39 from 39), Michael Tiffin (24) and Alexander Jenkins who made 15 from just 18 balls.
In reply the Tussocks were dismissed for just 85 in just 21 overs, crumbling from 4/50.
The wickets were shared by Ross (2/15), Jasmeet Singh (2/26), Atinderdeep Singh (2/23) and Peter Davies (2/18).
In the under 16s St Mary’s Nagle easily conquered Bruthen/Orbost at Nagle College.
The hosts making 2/137 from their 25 over allotment, before dismissing Bruthen/Orbost for just 43 in 19 overs.
The lads have a bye this week, before meeting Lindenow South Glenaladale in the final round at the Glenaladale Recreation Reserve
In the under 13s, Orbost went down to arch rival, Lakes Entrance Maroon at St Brendans in Lakes Entrance last Friday night.
They will host Lakes Entrance White this week at Orbost Secondary College.
The Blues will host Lucknow this week at Orbost Secondary College, going in full of confidence.
