Community groups across the region are bringing inspiring local projects to life, following the latest round of East Gippsland Shire Council’s Community Impact Grants.
The program provides grants of between $3001 and $20,000 to support community development or environmental sustainability initiatives that strengthens towns and connects communities.
Mayor Cr Jodie Ashworth and chief executive officer Fiona Weigall recently presented certificates to several successful applicants, including:
Mallacoota Youth and Sports Club Inc – $16,500 for a deep clean and maintenance coat of the Main Hall playing surface following recent building renovations, ensuring the facility remains safe, welcoming and ready for community use.
Noorinbee Public Purposes Reserve CoM – $3020 for the Autumn Harvest project, supporting local engagement and activity at the reserve.
Genoa District Community Group – $10,000 for the Genoa History Park – Heritage Interpretation and Signage project, enhancing the way local history is shared with residents and visitors.
The strong interest in this year’s grants highlights the depth of community-led ideas across East Gippsland.
