It was a short day for Orbost’s “B” grade cricketers in round 15 of the Bairnsdale Cricket Association, after being dismissed
for just 37 against Lucknow at Orbost Community College.
It was their second lowest score of the year, just bettering the 35 they made in round two against Wy Yung.
After winning the toss, the Blues were dismissed in just 22 overs, with no play reaching double figures, extras top scoring with 10.
Promising Magpie youngster, Oakley Hughes had a day out, taking 5/7 from just six overs.
In reply Lucknow knocked up the total in just 11 overs, for the loss of two wickets, both taken by Jacob Farley, who picked up 2/23 from six overs.
In the under 16s Bruthen/Orbost had a bye, and will be hoping they can record their first win of the season in this week’s final round against Lindenow South Glenaladale at the Glenaladale Recreation Reserve.
In the under 13s Orbost and Lakes Entrance White played an exciting match of a very high standard at Orbost Community College.
The blues failed by six runs to chase down, the Seagulls 6/85, finishing on 6/79 after their 20 over allotment.
Match highlights included Peter Davies (12) and Angus Seal (11) retiring unbeaten and Harrison Clay making 12, unluckily run out.
Seal completed an impressive match, taking 2/3 from two overs.
The under 13s will finish their season on Friday night, with away game at the Bruthen Recreation Reserve against Bruthen Black.
