Agriculture Victoria is inviting farm business owners and managers across the state to take part in a free online program aimed at building skills, knowledge, and resilience.
The six-week program, starting Wednesday, February 25, at 12pm, is designed for livestock, grains, mixed farmers, horticulturalists, and apiarists.
It will run on Wednesdays and is delivered online, allowing participants to join from home without the need to travel.
Project Leader Kit Duncan-Jones said the program helps farmers prepare for and manage risk, adapt to change, and strengthen their farm businesses.
“Participants will gain practical knowledge, tools, and renewed confidence to achieve their business goals,” he said.
“It’s suitable for both new and experienced farmers who want to build resilience to climate variability and set their farms up for long-term success.”
The program will feature five interactive sessions covering:
– Risk identification, strategic planning, and goal setting
– Financial management, budgeting, and profitable decision-making
– Climate risk and natural resource management
– Workforce management, succession planning, and farm safety
– Overall business planning
Participants are encouraged to develop a farm business plan, with the option of a one-on-one review session with an experienced farm management consultant.
Agriculture Victoria staff and consultants from Rural People Co. will provide guidance throughout the program.
The initiative is jointly funded through the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund and the Victorian Government’s Sustainability Fund.
