Laura Calvert is the founder and owner of Reform Room, a 24/7 reformer Pilates studio on Howitt Avenue in Eastwood, created from a clear and deeply personal vision: to make movement accessible, affordable and genuinely welcoming for her local community.
A lifelong local, Laura has spent more than a decade working in social welfare and while this still remains her full-time career, Reform Room grew from her belief that self-care should never feel like a luxury, particularly for parents, shift workers, and anyone navigating the demands of a busy life.
As a mum of two, Laura knows firsthand how easily personal wellbeing can fall to the bottom
of the list. While traditional Pilates studios are undeniably effective,
she often found them limiting, locked into fixed timetables and high price points that made consistency difficult.
The idea for Reform Room began at home, after Laura received a reformer as a Christmas gift. What started as informal YouTube workouts with a friend quickly revealed something powerful: a more flexible, intuitive way to move, one that could adapt to how someone feels on any given day.
Rather than joining a franchise, Laura chose to build an independent studio shaped by her own values and the real needs of her community. Reform Room offers 24/7 access through a kiosk-based system, with hundreds of professionally programmed Pilates sessions available at any time. Members can choose classes focused on strength, recovery, stretch, or rehabilitation, allowing movement to feel supportive and empowering rather than intimidating.
Affordability sits at the heart of the business. Laura intentionally keeps pricing consistent and accessible, avoiding short-term promotions in favour of helping members build sustainable, long-term habits. Her philosophy is simple: Pilates should fit into everyday life, not sit outside it as an indulgence.
Safety, comfort, and connection were also central to the studio’s design. Located in a well-lit local shopping centre, Reform Room has been thoughtfully created to feel private, welcoming, and non-judgemental. Its distinctive aesthetic reflects Laura’s belief that wellness can be both functional and fun.
More than just a Pilates studio, Reform Room is Laura’s way of giving back – a space built on
care, inclusivity, and community, now woven into the daily rhythm
of local life.
