A long-standing East Gippsland business marked a significant milestone in its evolution, successfully designing and manufacturing its first “A” trailer on-site at its Bairnsdale facility.
The project, completed late last year by Jansons Concrete and Haulage, signals a new era of growth for the company, which is now transitioning from heavy machinery maintenance into full-scale custom manufacturing.
The trailer, specifically designed for cattle haulage, is destined for a client in Queensland who turned to the local Bairnsdale operator after facing wait times of up to two years from other manufacturers.
In contrast, the Jansons team completed the entire build in approximately eight weeks – six weeks for the primary construction and two weeks for the final fit-out.
Remarkably, every component of the trailer, including the complex design work, was executed on-site, with the exception of the suspension system.
Owner Jarrod Jason said the move into manufacturing was a natural progression for his workshop team.
“For us, it started out as just refurbishing and repairing old trailers – that’s since grown to us building them,” Mr Jason said.
“We now have other trailers under construction here at our site.”
The custom-built trailers are engineered for longevity, with an expected service life of around 10 years before requiring floor maintenance.
Established in 2003, Jansons Concrete and Haulage has grown significantly over the past two decades.
While the new manufacturing arm is gaining momentum, the business remains a regional leader in the manufacture and delivery of premixed concrete, as well as providing heavy haulage cartage, crushing and screening services.
The business currently employs 24 staff members and operates a comprehensive workshop that handles roadworthy certificates, heavy machinery repairs, and the manufacturing of stock crates.
Beyond their industrial contributions, Jansons is well-known for its locals supporting locals philosophy.
The company is a prominent fixture in the regional community, providing vital sponsorship to several local football and cricket clubs.
Their support also extends to traditional regional events, including woodchopping competitions and the iconic Omeo Rodeo, cementing their status as a core supporter of the East Gippsland social and economic fabric.
With a proven track record in concrete and haulage and a promising new direction in custom trailer manufacturing, Jansons Concrete and Haulage continues to drive innovation from its Bairnsdale base.
