Orbost Bowls Club division four side is the Gippsland Bowls Region (GBR) weekend pennant champions for season 2025/26.
The Green Machine secured the title with a commanding 50–18 win over Bairnsdale 7 at the Bairnsdale Bowling Club.
The winners were Beryl Dyce, Janice Lynn, Dennis McCann and Jennifer Gurney (27–9), and Trevor Perry, Ralph Harding, Jurgen Fichtner and Lynette O’Brien (23–9).
There was disappointment for Orbost in division one, going down to Heyfield, 64-49 in their grand final.
Maurice Frank, Bruce Kneebone, Peter Coulton and Hayden Lancaster were Orbost’s only rink winners, 22-11.

This event was held on Sunday at Bairnsdale Bowls Club, with Orbost represented by Lancaster and Dyce both competed at the event.
Unfortunately both bowed out in their first match, Lancaster losing to Bairnsdale’s Danny Prazza, while Dyce went down to Sale’s Pam Carter in a high quality match, 25-21.
CRACKERJACK
Crackerjack continues this week, commencing at 5pm tonight.
Players can borrow bowls from the club for free, enjoy a sausage sizzle and the licensed bar will be open.
SOCIAL BOWLS
Thursday’s weather proved overcast, cold and windy, but there was still a good attendance of players.
Two games of 10 ends were organised with two team winning both of their games.
In a very close countback, the declared winners were Greg Rankin(skip), Vanessa Frank, McCann and Narelle Shorten on 32 points.
The runners up on 31 points were Fichtner (skip), Harding and Henry Coles.
The next social bowls will be on Thursday, with bowlers asked to be at the Club no later than 12.30pm.
