The Orbost Bowls Club will hold two sets of Club Championships in April.
The first event, the postponed men’s and ladies’ handicapped singles, will commence on Thursday, April 16 at 9.45am with the knockout rounds. Remaining rounds and the grand finals will conclude on Thursday, April 23.
The mixed pairs championship will be played over Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26, also starting at 9.45am. Entry forms for both events are available on the club’s outside noticeboard.
SOCIAL BOWLS
Last Thursday saw a strong turnout for social bowls despite cool, overcast conditions. A chilly breeze made play brisk as two games of 10 ends were contested, with bowlers glad to head inside for hot drinks once the session concluded.
Two teams won both of their games, but on countback the winners were Maurice Frank (skip), Lyn O’Brien, Narelle Shorten and Rob Black.
Sunday afternoon’s session enjoyed much milder weather. The 10-end format continued, and only one team won both their games: Greg Rankin (skip), Gwen Hatcher, Steve Shorten and Trevor Perry.
The next social bowls session will be held on Thursday, with players asked to arrive no later than 12.30pm to allow teams to be arranged.
