Training for the Orbost Hockey Club got underway on Tuesday night this week, with sessions running from 4–5pm under the guidance of a sensational lineup of coaches for the 2026 season.
All age groups will be training on Tuesday evenings, and the club is encouraging everyone to come down, bring a friend, and get the sticks moving again.
The under 10s will be coached by the dynamic duo of Rachael Griebenow and Lisa Murray. Griebenow’s enthusiasm combined with Murray’s experience promises a fun and skill–building environment for the youngest players.
Ava and Mia Martin will alternate coaching the under 12s, giving back to the club while taking on this important role.
Misty Anderson will lead the under 14s, bringing her experience as both a skilled player and coach to support the team’s development.
The under–16s are in the capable hands of Kerryn Volk, who co–coached the under–18s last year. Volk’s playing experience and clear, honest feedback will help players reach their potential.
Sarah McDonald takes on the role of playing coach for the women’s team, stepping forward from the backline to lead with her extensive on-field knowledge.
With training drills already underway, club officials are optimistic that 2026 could be the best year yet. The club extends its gratitude to all coaches for volunteering their time to develop the next generation of players.
The first game is scheduled for April 18 in Sale, and now is the perfect time to register for the season. The full season draw has been posted and is pinned in the featured section of the club’s Facebook page.
