The Mallacoota Gun Club recently held its Phoenix Shoot, marking the anniversary of the club’s reopening following bushfire recovery.
The day featured a mixed-discipline 100-target event, with 18 shooters competing in challenging conditions. Overcast skies, drizzle, low light, and north-west winds tested participants’ skills, reflected in the scores throughout the day. The weather did improve slightly later, with occasional sunshine brightening the course.
Winners on the day were Cody Robertson (high gun), Alan West (“A” grade), Simon Buckley (“B” grade), Alan Osborne (“C” grade), and Alistair Scott (juniors).
The next event on the calendar is a 100-target simulated field shoot on Saturday, April 4.
