The pennant season might have concluded, but the Orbost Bowling Club members are still enjoying every opportunity to partake in some social bowls.
Thursday afternoon saw bowls being played in overcast and fairly humid conditions, in the format of two games of 10 ends.
The usual bowlers were joined by Guy Smith, a visitor from Hervey Bay, who manufactures laser measures that are approved by Bowls Australia, and demonstrated his laser measure during the games.
Only one team won both of their games, with the winning team being Gwen Hatcher (skip), Maurice Frank and Lyn O’Brien.
There was an extremely good attendance at Sunday’s social bowls, with Smith again joining in, plus four other visitors adding to the usual number of bowlers.
The conditions were sunny and quite hot with most bowlers welcoming the cooler breeze that arrived later in the afternoon even though it was occasionally strong enough to interfere with the bowls.
As usual, two games of 10 ends were played, and repeating Thursday’s result, there was only one team who won both of their games.
Barry Munns was the skip for the winning team, assisted by Ralph Harding, Jurgen Fichtner and Steve Shorten.
The next social bowls will be on Thursday, with bowlers requested to be at the club between 12pm and 12.30pm to allow the teams to be organised.
