Marlo’s popular foreshore is set for a significant upgrade, with works scheduled to begin after Easter to enhance recreation
facilities and improve accessibility at the iconic fishing and
community destination.
The project, managed by East Gippsland Shire Council, aims to replace ageing infrastructure with safer, more inclusive amenities designed to support locals and visitors of all ages and abilities.
Key features of the upgrade include the replacement of the existing barbecue and shelter, along with the installation of new picnic tables and bench seating.
To ensure the foreshore is accessible to everyone, the project includes the construction of DDA-compliant (Disability Discrimination Act) paths and upgraded parking areas, featuring dedicated accessible parking
and shared spaces. Supporting infrastructure, such as new bin stands and bicycle racks, will
also be installed.
Construction is slated to begin immediately following the Easter break, with a completion date targeted for June 2026.
During the construction period, access to the Marlo boat ramp will be maintained at all times.
Traffic management will be in place to ensure the safety of the public and workers, though council expects minimal disruption throughout the duration
of the project.
