Orbost Bowling Club’s first Crackerjack tournament recently concluded after nine weeks, with organisers delighted with the success of the event.
The new bowlers enjoying the social games and becoming very good bowlers over a short period of time.
The winning team was Ralph Harding, Steve Shorten and Narelle Shorten, with the runners up being Mick Freeman, Greg Rankin and Lorraine Hawkey.
A new season of Crackerjack will commence in October.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two sets of Club Championships are rapidly approaching, with both being played this month.
The first will be the postponed men’s and ladies handicapped singles which will be commence on Thursday April 16 at 9.45am with the knockout rounds.
It will conclude on Thursday, April 23 with the remaining rounds and the grand final.
The mixed pairs will be played on April 25-26.
Entry forms for both events are on the outside noticeboard at the club.
SOCIAL BOWLS
Sunday saw bowls played in perfect bowling weather, unlike Thursday which was completely washed out by the heavy rain.
As it was the last Sunday in March, the format for the afternoon was Scroungers, with the third round being played.
The highest scorers for the round was Bruce Kneebone with 67 points, followed by Geoff Lynn (63) and Robyn Kellow (58).
The next social bowls will be on Thursday April 2, with bowlers asked to be at the club prior to 12.30pm.
