Thousands of East Gippsland homes and businesses will be without power on Sunday, April 19, as AusNet carries out maintenance works aimed at improving network reliability.
A total of 4680 customers will be affected by the planned outage window between 7am and 5pm, with work scheduled across parts of the region to allow crews to safely upgrade infrastructure.
Of those affected, 3380 customers will be without power between 8.30am and 2pm, while a further 1300 customers will experience two separate outages, from 7am to 8.30am and again from 2pm to 5pm.
AusNet said the works are part of ongoing efforts to maintain and strengthen the electricity network, including upgrades to insulators, crossarms and conductors.
AusNet General Manager Network Operations and Delivery Ross Young said customers had been notified in advance of the planned interruption.
“We’ll be upgrading insulators, crossarms, doing work on conductors and other maintenance activities,” Mr Young said.
“We’re doing this worknow to help keep the network safe and reliable throughout the year.”
He acknowledged the disruption the outage would cause, thanking customers for their patience while essential works are completed.
AusNet has advised residents to prepare for the outage by charging phones and battery packs, stocking essential supplies such as water and ice, and checking on neighbours, particularly elderly or vulnerable residents.
Customers with life support equipment are being urged to activate their emergency plans and can contact AusNet’s priority line.
