The Rotary Club of Orbost has marked the 10th anniversary of its last fishing weekend with a reunion held earlier this month, bringing together past participants to reflect on years of shared events and community connection.
For many years, the club hosted an annual fishing weekend at “The Slips”, inviting Rotary clubs from across the district to take part. Local boat owners also volunteered as skippers, assisting visiting members and helping facilitate days on the water.
The events became a longstanding community tradition, with organisers noting they helped foster friendships and connections between visiting Rotarians and the local community.
As part of the anniversary reunion, former skippers and Rotarians were invited to stay at the Ocean View Caravan Park in Marlo.
The program included a dinner at the Marlo Hotel on the Friday night, followed by a day of fishing. On the Saturday night, guests gathered at the Marlo Angling Club for a social evening featuring a slideshow of photographs from past fishing weekends.
The reunion provided an opportunity to acknowledge past members and revisit shared memories from the long-running event series.
