The Buchan Neighbourhood House has announced an upcoming Farm First Aid training session, providing local agricultural workers and residents with the skills
necessary to manage emergencies in isolated rural settings.
Scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, the workshop will be held at the Buchan Hall from 9am to 4pm. The course is specifically designed to address the unique risks associated with farming and outdoor work, where professional medical help may be a significant distance away.
The training will cover essential life-saving techniques, including:
– Severe trauma management (including chainsaw and machinery accidents).
– Snake and spider bite treatment.
– CPR and AED (Defibrillator) use.
– Fractures, burns, and crush injuries.
Recognizing that many local residents may already hold a first aid certificate, organisers are also offering a CPR Refresher option for those only needing to update that specific qualification.
As places for this specialised training are limited, early registration is highly recommended.
This initiative forms part of a broader effort to enhance regional resilience and ensure that those living and working in the Buchan district are prepared for
