East Gippsland Junior Football Association powerhouse, Wy Yung took on the Orbost Snowy Rovers at Lochiel Park last Sunday.
Although the points went the way of the impressive Tigers, the Blues certainly weren’t disgraced showing plenty of skill, positivity and courage, which should see some impressive victories racked up before the
finals tick around.
The under 13s went down by five goals, but showed in the second quarter what they are capable of, getting some much needed scoreboard pressure, courtesy of doing footballs easiest
tasks with diligence.
The skill level will continue to improve as the season progresses, but if they can continue to master the one percenters, victory number one is certainly just around the corner, maybe even as soon as this Sunday.
Among the best players were Chad Russell, Angus Seal, Noah Hanratty, Sonny Marshall and Jaxon Murray.
The under 15 match was an impressive contest, with the Blues taking the
match right up to their highly rated opponents.
Orbost maximised their chances around goal in the first term, opening up a five-point quarter time lead.
The Tigers found their mojo in the second term but the Blues again utilised their chances to still be in the match at half time, trailing by just 13 points.
Wy Yung went to a new level in the third term, ramming six goals to two, eventually running out 50-point winners.
Jasper Anderson, Kayden Smith, Silas Martin, Allister Horner and Lachlan Robinson posted some impressive numbers for the home side.
The Blues under 11 and 13 sides will play Paynesville this Sunday at AJ Freeman Reserve in Paynesville.
